Our son started out as a pretty good sleeper, often sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at night. When he was about 2.5 months things changed – he was often up 4-7 times a night. I thought maybe it was a growth spurt, so we kept plugging along one day at a time.
This went on for about two months and I knew I had to do something. I spent hours trying to get him to sleep, just for him to wake up sometimes not even an hour later. I would dread the night time, knowing I would not get more than a couple hours of sleep combined. Napping was much the same – we were lucky to get half an hour at a time. There were often days that he would not nap at all.
I knew that nobody in our house was getting the sleep we needed and I knew that I could/should be enjoying my time with my son so much more. I spoke to a couple of people who had worked with Sleepwell Baby and they had great success stories. As much as I knew we all needed sleep, I was nervous and skeptical about the whole thing. I kept ‘feeling bad’ for thinking I needed to change things.
After a few more nights with minimal sleep I decided to e-mail Alysa from SleepWell. She was so great and encouraging. She made me think that things could actually be better for my family. I will admit that even after our phone call I was still quite skeptical and I didn’t think anything would work for our son.
We followed Alysa’s plan exactly and by the second night our son was only waking once to eat. He was sleeping 12 hours and napping twice a day. We did have a few bumps along the way, but that can be expected. What we learned while working with Sleepwell was priceless and I would recommend them to anyone. It’s hard to put in to words just how much our lives have changed for the better!
